Please read these terms carefully before using OneRoomEarth. By registering or using our platform you agree to these terms.

⚠️ Important: OneRoomEarth is a marketplace platform, not a courier company. We connect independent travellers with customers. All transport arrangements are made between users. Users are solely responsible for compliance with customs and border regulations in all countries.

1. About OneRoomEarth

OneRoomEarth (“the Platform”, “we”, “us”, “our”) is an online marketplace that connects individuals travelling internationally (“Travellers”) with individuals who wish to send personal items internationally (“Customers”).

OneRoomEarth is operated by The Trustee For Faruque Hossain Family Trust (ABN: 18 264 562 635), a business registered in New South Wales, Australia.

OneRoomEarth is a marketplace platform only. We do not transport, handle, or take custody of any items at any time. We are not a licensed courier, freight forwarder, or logistics company.

2. Eligibility & Registration

To use OneRoomEarth you must:

  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have legal capacity to enter into a binding agreement
  • Provide accurate, complete, and current information during registration
  • Have a valid email address and phone number
  • Not be prohibited from using the platform under any applicable law

By creating an account you confirm that all information provided is truthful and accurate. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password.

3. User Roles

3.1 Customers

Customers are users who register to find travellers and book luggage capacity to send personal items. Customers must verify their email address and phone number. Identity verification may be required for bookings over AUD $500.

3.2 Travellers

Travellers are verified users who post trips and offer spare luggage capacity. To become a Traveller you must:

  • Verify your email address via OTP
  • Verify your phone number via OTP
  • Upload a valid flight ticket matching your account name
  • Have your application approved by our admin team

Traveller status is granted at the sole discretion of OneRoomEarth and may be revoked at any time.

4. Traveller Obligations

As a Traveller on OneRoomEarth you agree to:

  • Only post trips for which you hold a valid, confirmed flight booking
  • Personally inspect all items before accepting them at handover
  • Refuse any item you are not comfortable carrying β€” you have an absolute right to refuse
  • Never carry cash, weapons, illegal substances, liquids, perishables, or any prohibited item
  • Comply with all customs and border regulations in both departure and destination countries
  • Declare all carried items accurately to customs authorities as required
  • Confirm handover with a photo through the platform
  • Upload your boarding pass within 2 hours of boarding
  • Deliver items to the recipient at the destination as agreed
  • Never share customer contact details outside the platform
Important: You are solely and personally responsible for everything in your luggage when passing through customs. OneRoomEarth accepts no liability for any customs penalties, fines, confiscations, or legal consequences arising from items you carry.

5. Customer Obligations

As a Customer on OneRoomEarth you agree to:

  • Only send items that are permitted under customs regulations in both countries
  • Never attempt to send prohibited items, cash, undeclared goods, or illegal substances
  • Provide accurate descriptions of all items when booking
  • Present items openly for inspection at handover β€” never conceal item contents
  • Confirm delivery within 72 hours of your recipient receiving the item
  • Never attempt to contact the traveller outside the platform before payment is confirmed
  • Accept full responsibility for the legality of the items you send

6. Prohibited Items

The following items are strictly prohibited on OneRoomEarth:

  • Cash or monetary instruments (coins, banknotes, cheques, money orders)
  • Illegal drugs or controlled substances
  • Weapons, firearms, ammunition, or explosives
  • Liquids over 100ml
  • Perishable food or biological materials
  • Counterfeit or pirated goods
  • Hazardous materials, chemicals, or flammable substances
  • Live animals or animal products restricted by CITES
  • Items subject to export or import restrictions
  • Any item that would violate the laws of the departure or destination country

7. Payments & Escrow

7.1 Currency

All payments are processed in Australian Dollars (AUD). International customers pay by credit or debit card β€” foreign exchange conversion is handled by Stripe at the prevailing market rate.

7.2 Escrow System

All customer payments are held in secure escrow by Stripe and released to the Traveller in three stages:

  • Gate 1 β€” 20%: Released when both parties confirm handover with photo proof
  • Gate 2 β€” 10%: Released when Traveller uploads boarding pass (verified by admin)
  • Gate 3 β€” 60%: Released when Customer confirms delivery or after 72 hours automatically

7.3 Platform Fee

OneRoomEarth charges a 10% platform fee on all transactions, deducted from the total payment before release to the Traveller.

7.4 Payment Processing

Payments are processed by Stripe Payments Australia Pty Ltd. By making a payment you also agree to Stripe’s Terms of Service.

8. Cancellations & Refunds

  • Traveller cancels before handover: Customer receives 100% refund
  • Customer cancels before handover: Customer receives 90% refund
  • Customer cancels after handover: No refund β€” treated as a dispute
  • Traveller disappears after handover: Customer receives 80% refund, Traveller account permanently banned

Refunds are processed back to the original payment method within 5–10 business days depending on your card issuer.

9. Disputes

In the event of a dispute between a Customer and Traveller, both parties must first attempt to resolve the matter directly through the platform messaging system.

If unresolved, either party may escalate to OneRoomEarth admin by contacting us at faruque.hossain@gmail.com. We will review all available evidence including handover photos, boarding passes, delivery confirmations and communications.

OneRoomEarth’s decision on disputes is final. We reserve the right to release, withhold, or split escrowed funds based on our assessment of the evidence.

10. Customs & Legal Compliance

Users are solely responsible for compliance with all applicable customs, import, and export regulations in all countries involved in a transaction. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Australia: Australian Border Force (ABF) regulations
  • Bangladesh: National Board of Revenue (NBR) regulations
  • United States: US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations
  • Canada: Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) regulations
  • United Kingdom: His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) regulations

Cash declaration thresholds: AUD $10,000 (Australia), USD $10,000 (USA), CAD $10,000 (Canada), GBP Β£10,000 (UK), USD $5,000 equivalent (Bangladesh).

Never carry undeclared cash above these thresholds. This is a serious criminal offence in all countries and will result in immediate account termination and referral to authorities.

11. Privacy & Data

We collect and process personal data in accordance with our Privacy Policy. By using OneRoomEarth you consent to our data practices as described therein.

User addresses and contact details are only shared between matched parties after payment confirmation. We do not sell personal data to third parties.

12. Liability & Disclaimer

OneRoomEarth provides a marketplace platform only. To the maximum extent permitted by Australian law:

  • We are not liable for loss, damage, or non-delivery of any items
  • We are not liable for customs seizures, fines, or legal consequences
  • We are not liable for the actions of any Traveller or Customer
  • We do not guarantee the accuracy of any trip listing or user profile
  • Our total liability is limited to the platform fee paid for the relevant transaction

Nothing in these terms limits liability for fraud, personal injury, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law.

13. Account Termination

OneRoomEarth reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate any account at any time for:

  • Violation of these Terms & Conditions
  • Carrying or attempting to carry prohibited items
  • Providing false information during registration or verification
  • Fraudulent activity or attempting to circumvent the escrow system
  • Harassment, abuse, or threatening behaviour toward other users
  • Any activity that brings OneRoomEarth into disrepute

Terminated users forfeit any escrowed funds held at the time of termination in cases of fraud or prohibited item violations.

14. Governing Law

These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales, Australia.

If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue in full force and effect.

These Terms & Conditions were last updated in March 2026. We reserve the right to update these terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
